Chuckanut Health Foundation was originally St. Luke’s Foundation. The Foundation was created in 1983 with proceeds from the sale of St. Luke’s Hospital, a local community hospital that served the Bellingham community for nearly 100 years. For 30 years, the Foundation has honored that heritage by investing over $15 million in the critical health needs of Whatcom County and its people.
The Foundation is independently governed by a board of local leaders who are deeply rooted in this community and share a passion for improving individual and community health. They have stewarded over $16 million in assets to insure vital funding of local health services, health education activities and health professional scholarships. The board and staff believe in community health through ongoing assessment and effective partnerships that respond to the ever-changing health needs of our community.
We remain clearly focused and committed to improving the health of all who live in Whatcom County by investing in health services where they are most needed and have the greatest collective impact.
